Mania - Overall

Current:

Storyboard maps will be Loved since it has the potential for players to cheat with dual screen.

Proposed:

Gameplay-changing storyboard maps will be Loved, as they have the potential to let players cheat by using a dual-screen setup.

Reasoning:
There are many types of storyboards, such as ones used purely for visual/background purposes with no gameplay impact. Restricting the rule to storyboards that are directly gameplay-changing narrows the scope to maps that actually pose a cheating risk, without unfairly affecting maps with purely cosmetic storyboards.

Mania - 4K Rules

Current:

4K maps with SR>8 will be put in Loved.

Proposed:
Remove this rule entirely.

Reasoning:
Mappers have already demonstrated the ability to create good, expressive high-SR (>8) maps that meet ranking standards. This rule is no longer necessary and unfairly excludes high-quality, high-difficulty maps from the ranked section.

Current:

4K maps with SR>4 require a minimum of HP7 and OD7.

Proposed:

4K maps with SR>4 require a minimum of HP8 and OD6

Reasoning:
The current HP7/OD7 requirement was designed for maps at the lower end of the SR>4 range, where patterns tend to be simpler and more consistent. However, as SR increases, maps often rely on more complex, expressive patterning (e.g. jumptrills, jacks, or dense chordjacks) that requires tighter windows to reward accuracy but a higher HP drain to preserve the intended stamina/difficulty curve.

Lowering OD to 6 gives players slightly more leeway on hit windows, which better accommodates the increased pattern complexity and keeps the map's difficulty coming from the patterning itself rather than an overly punishing judgment window. Meanwhile, raising HP to 8 ensures that maps still maintain a meaningful health-drain challenge, preventing overly lenient HP settings from trivializing high-SR maps.

This adjustment allows mappers more flexibility to design patterns that are both technically demanding and enjoyable to play, without being restricted by settings tuned for lower-difficulty maps.
