Hey everyone!

First of all, thank you all for sticking with Datenshi and keeping our community active. We’ve been quiet lately, and we want to change that.

As some of you might remember, we previously implemented a PP rework to make the performance points system fairer and more reflective of true skill. However, pp systems are tricky, and balancing is an ongoing process. We feel like we need a fresh batch of feedback directly from you—the players who are actually grinding the maps every day.

We want to open this thread for an open discussion regarding the current state of PP on Datenshi.

What we want to hear from you:

[*]What feels broken or underweighted? (e.g., specific mod combinations, speed/stamina maps, reading, or precision).
[*]How do you feel about the current pp scaling compared to before?
[*]Any suggestions or specific changes you'd like to see implemented?

Feel free to share your thoughts, top plays, or even examples of scores that you think deserve more (or less) pp. Let's make Datenshi's scoring system the best it can be.

Looking forward to reading your feedback! Keep grinding and have fun!

Hello Datenshi team! Thank you for opening this thread for discussion. As a long-time player, I would like to share my honest critique and suggestions regarding the current PP system.

To be completely honest, I really miss how the Datenshi PP system used to be. Here are the main points I would like to bring up:

1. Regarding what feels broken or underweighted, there isn't one specific technical issue that stands out. Instead, the main problem is that the current PP system copies Bancho way too closely. Across all aspects, whether it's mod combinations, speed, or stamina maps, the accumulated PP calculation feels almost identical to Bancho's live system.
2. In my opinion, the current PP scaling is a major step down compared to the old system. If the PP scaling is just going to mimic Bancho, it defeats the purpose of playing on a private server. One of the biggest reasons why players stay loyal to Datenshi is the satisfaction of farming and getting generous PP rewards. Players don't join private servers just to play unranked or loved pending maps; we also want to farm without feeling like our scores are heavily undervalued. If the PP gains are going to be just as small as Bancho's, people might as well just play on the official Bancho server.
3. Furthermore, forcing a strict PP system directly affects player motivation and overall server activity. I believe one of the main reasons the server has been quiet lately is because the core appeal of Datenshi has faded. When clearing difficult maps no longer yields satisfying rewards, both veteran and newer players lose the incentive to grind here. Reverting to the old PP style is crucial if we want to bring back the hype and revive the playerbase.

To give you an example, I was deeply impressed by Datenshi back in 2019. I remember playing an 8* LN (Long Note) map of Silhouette, which was quite difficult to play. Back then, the PP calculation system felt amazing and incredibly rewarding. Even with a 96% accuracy, I was able to achieve around 1,000 PP. However, looking at the system this year, I feel a bit disappointed. For a map of that caliber, the payout has dropped significantly, only giving around 800+ PP.

Suggestions:
My main recommendation is to bring back Datenshi's original identity instead of restricting the system to Bancho's strict standards. Give us back the rewarding and satisfying PP system that we used to love, as that is the exact charm that makes this private server so unique.

Additionally, it would be great to look at how other successful private servers handle their issues. I suggest observing how they implement unique features or offer special benefits to their playerbase. This doesn't mean copying them directly, but there is no harm in taking them as a reference and learning from other servers to help Datenshi stand out and become more appealing.

Thank you for listening to the community, and I hope we can make Datenshi great again!
